The Taiwanese Government has launched an investigation after two of its MPs staged a mock attack on the island's top university to test police response times in the wake of the mass shooting at Virginia Tech in the US.
Lee Chen-nan and Lin Kuo-ching, members of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, faked an attack in a building where students, thought to be unaware that the exercise was a stunt, were taking exams.
A spokesman for National Taiwan University said the stunt had annoyed students, although the MPs said that many students had been supportive.
Taiwan's Cabinet condemned the incident and ordered an investigation.
