This week's Times Higher boasts a bumper crop of jobs as universities jostle for market position and prepare for the next research assessment exercise.
Six higher education institutions have taken out full-page advertisements in the jobs pages, offering more than a hundred roles between them.
Aberdeen University is advertising 26 posts to strengthen provision in its college of arts and social sciences. The college comprises the schools of business; divinity, history and philosophy; law; education; language and literature and social science. There are vacancies in each area.
Kingston University has 25 full-time jobs and an as yet unspecified number of part-time posts as part of its plans to recruit more undergraduates to its faculty of arts and social sciences. It is looking for people in areas such as creative writing, English language, film studies, journalism, criminology and modern history.
Bath University needs to fill posts covering a range of specialisms including polymers and composites, sport and exercise science, economics and social work. The university is focusing on science and technology and a number of the appointments are in 5*-rated departments.
Exeter University has a full-page advert offering 30 academic posts in areas such as Arabic, drama, engineering, Italian, management, archaeology, English and economics. It is part of a major refocusing of its provision, and more advertisements will appear soon in The Times Higher .
The University of Wales Institute Cardiff is looking for eight professors and a dean as part of an investment in research. Professorships are being offered in art and design, biomedical sciences and product design. It is looking for a dean of graduate studies.
Meanwhile, the Central School of Speech and Drama wants to fill seven posts as part of its plans to increase student numbers and extend its provision in specialist areas.
Vacancies include a lecturer in voice, a lecturer in physical and visual theatre and a lecturer/ senior lecturer in acting for screen and actor training.
