The TTA attacked one of its most persistent critics, the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers, in its evidence to the Commons Select Committee on Education's inquiry into teacher training.
The agency said some of UCET's comments about the TTA had been "very wide of the mark, both factually and in the belligerent tone adopted".
Suggestions by UCET that the TTA did not have the right staff to develop a national curriculum for teacher training did not stand up to scrutiny, it said.
