Developers and researchers from the University of Teesside are showing a virtual reality representation of the controversial sculpture, Angel of the North, at the Tomorrow's World Live Event at the NEC Birmingham.
The 20-metre tall and 50-metre wingspan steel sculpture by Anthony Gormley will tower over motorists heading north to Tyneside on the A1. Visitors to the exhibition can see the VR version until Sunday. The 200-tonne sculpture has already become one of the most widely discussed works of modern art before it has been erected.
Students are also showing a VR "pipeline pig", capable of detecting problems before cleaning North Sea pipelines.
