Son of a Conservative MP, son-in-law of the chamberlain to the former Shah of Iran, Peter Temple-Morris, who recently completed his journey across the House of Commons by joining the Labour Party is possibly the unlikeliest Labour member since Sir Oswald Mosley. Mr Temple-Morris's academic training was as orthodox as his previous politics, taking in a degree at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. But even then he was an intrepid sort of chap, joining the 1961 Cambridge Afro-Asian (presumably the destination rather than the ethnicity of the explorers) expedition.
