Two studies find support for BSE-CJD link

Two BSE studies have this week provided the strongest evidence yet that new-variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease is the human version of BSE. One, carried out by John Collinge of the prion disease group at Imperial College, London, with the Institute of Psychiatry, has come to the "inescapable conclusion" that a link between nv-CJD and BSE exists and that eating infected beef is probably to blame. Another study by researchers at the Institute of Animal Health found "compelling" evidence of a link between BSE and nv-CJD.
