Leaders of the Scottish tourist industry met to discuss plans for a new degree. The experts met in Inverness to discuss the BA in tourism and hospitality practice planned at the UHI Millennium Institute, the prospective University of the Highlands and Islands. The degree will be developed to meet the needs of local industry, and students will learn partly on the job as they work at guest houses, restaurants and resorts. "To get tourism growth back on track, it is crucial that we continue to develop and nurture the next generation of tourism entrepreneurs," said Philip Riddle, chief executive of VisitScotland.
