The UK launch of the Sixth Framework programme (FP6) will take place in London on 28 November.
The aim of the event is to introduce those from academia, industry, research institutes and government involved in research in agriculture, fisheries, food, forestry, environment and rural affairs to the opportunities offered by the new Framework programme.
Speakers will focus in particular on the thematic priority areas relating to genomics and biotechnology, food safety and sustainable development. The eighth priority, 'supporting policies and anticipating scientific and technological needs' will also be addressed.
Presentations will also give details on the new funding mechanisms and the various opportunities for small and medium sized enterprises. A computer based workshop on 'How to make CORDIS work for you' will also be held.
The event will be co-hosted by the UK's Department for environment, food and rural affairs, the Food standards agency, the Biotechnology and biological sciences research council and the natural environment research council.
