Ulster boost

Increased joint ventures by universities north and south of the border have been suggested by the London and Dublin governments. The framework document for future political development between the two states said that joint ventures in higher education could be one possible function of a new north-south body. The signal was interpreted as a boost for the planned joint institution on the border which could be run by the University of Ulster and the University of Galway. Other areas of possible co-operation are teacher training and the recognition of teacher qualifications.
