(Photograph) - Unearthly presence: Virtual Visions is an exhibition of computer-generated prints, created by Mike King, reader in computer art and animation at London Guildhall University. The prints are virtual photographs of imaginary worlds, with dense detail of surreal shapes and spaces. The works are generated with software written by the artist and Richard Wright. King explains: 'The software, RaySculpt, has been evolving over the past 14 years. A major component of it, the Ray-Tracer, was donated by Richard after working as research fellow at IBM Winchester. By writing and developing my own software, I can explore a personal aesthetic I find hard to pursue with proprietary packages.'
The exhibition is at the Colville Gallery, London until September 25. Find an extensive collection of King's work, as well as the exhibition work, at http://web.ukonline.co.uk/mr.king.
