Work has begun on the construction of a £6.5 million research facility for bioenergy and biofuels, brewing technology and food and drink processing. The Bioenergy Centre at the University of Nottingham is being funded by the institution, the European Regional Development Fund and brewing firm SABMiller. David Greenaway, Nottingham's vice-chancellor, said that, among other things, the centre would bring together experts to work on the development of sustainable bioenergy that could replace fossil fuels. Construction should be complete by next March.
