The first cohort of indigenous Australian students participating in a new scholarship scheme are due to arrive at the University of Oxford next year, it has been announced. The scheme was launched by the Charlie Perkins Trust for Children and Students and Oxford last year. Now, funding has been secured for the first two scholarship students to study at the graduate level in 2010. Despite Oxford having had a significant number of Australian students over the years, it is believed that no indigenous Australian has ever studied for a degree there.
