Thanks to a benefaction of £2.5 million, the University of Oxford has created a new chair in the study of Abrahamic religions. It will be filled for the start of the 2009-10 academic year. George Pattison, of Oxford's theology faculty, said: "Jews, Christians and Muslims all refer to Abraham as a friend of God. I hope that the establishment of this important post will contribute to deepening friendship among these three great religions in their diverse quests to honour God rightly."
