Training in coroners' law will be offered as part of an English undergraduate degree course outside London for the first time. The University of Sunderland's law department has launched a module covering coroners' law, taught by Derek Winter, HM coroner for the City of Sunderland, which will be open to third-year students from September. It will examine inquests and verdicts, alongside more difficult cases such as death in custody, the death of children, military deaths and mass fatalities.
