Ref.: 534426 Work type: Full-time Department: Department of Psychiatry, School of Clinical Medicine (21500) Categories: Professoriate Staff Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 534426), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. We are seeking emerging scholars whose work advances the understanding and treatment of psychiatric disorders and improves mental and physical health outcomes. We welcome applicants from psychiatry and related fields, including psychiatric epidemiology, digital mental health, artificial intelligence and machine learning in mental health, big data analytics, and pharmacoepidemiology. Applicants who adopt multidisciplinary approaches to address key challenges in psychiatry and mental health are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should possess: (i) a Ph.D. degree in psychiatry, psychology, public health, population health, data science, epidemiology, or a related discipline; (ii) a proven track record of impactful research, publications, external grants and leadership; and (iii) experience in teaching or mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of psychiatry. The appointee is expected to conduct independent and collaborative research of high academic merit, and secure competitive external research funding to maintain an active research programme. He/She will contribute to teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and supervise research postgraduate students. He/She will also undertake administrative and service duties as assigned. The Department offers a vibrant, collaborative environment with strong links to clinical services, community partners, and international research networks. Interdisciplinary experience and expertise are most welcome and highly valued. Journalism: AI applications in journalism practices, entrepreneurship, business journalism; Documentary: video production, directing, post-production; AI Film: generative AI models, model training, AI video editing and post-production, 3D and animation integration, audience and workflow design; and Global Creative Industries: gaming and digital humanities, visual arts and museum studies, music and performing arts, visual communications.  Requirements Applicants should be highly accomplished professionals from the industry/public sector. They should possess a Master’s degree or above in journalism, communication or related fields, with at least 15 years of professional and practical experience in the journalism, film production or media industries, preferably with 5 of those years in senior management positions, as well as proven exceptional contributions to the industry at national/regional and international levels. Extensive teaching and supervisory experience in media education and curriculum design is required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in either teaching or conducting training at tertiary or professional level. Proven leadership experience in administration, programme and curriculum development, and experience in China and Asia are advantages. Applicants with lesser qualification and experience may be considered for appointment for Associate Professor of Practice. Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will principally engage in teaching and curriculum development, knowledge exchange and community engagement. They are also expected to remain active in professional, research or creative activities. He/She will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development, as well as to undertake administrative duties at the Division and/or School levels. Robotics is reshaping the future of engineering — and mechanical engineering is at the heart of this transformation. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, our researchers tackle some of the most complex challenges in intelligent systems, from precision manipulation and manufacturing automation to surgical assistance, space exploration, and operations in hazardous environments. In particular, the rapid growth of soft and intelligent robotics research is opening exciting new opportunities for innovation, impact, and real-world solutions. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong offers B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes within one of the region’s most highly ranked engineering schools. With around 35 dedicated full-time faculty members and state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, the Department provides an inspiring environment where innovation thrives. Our research spans frontier areas such as advanced robotics, soft and flexible robot design, actuation, sensing and control, bio-inspired engineering, exoskeletons, biomimetic robots, and their applications in healthcare.
