Trevor Jones, a conservation zoologist, has captured on video for the first time a new species of elephant-shrew, a small furry mammal that eats mostly insects. The research fellow from Anglia Ruskin University filmed the animal in the wild in the Udzungwa mountains of Tanzania. The discovery of the new type of elephant-shrew, so named because of its long flexible snout, is of considerable importance scientifically. Dr Jones said it was "thrilling" to have the creature on camera.
