A podiatry lecturer is encouraging her students to collect used shoes and donate them to people who are homeless. Evelyn Weir of Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh has been providing volunteer foot care for more than 15 years via charities supporting the homeless. "Most homeless people have only one pair of shoes, and often they are the wrong size, old or inadequate," she said. "It is extremely satisfying to be able to see someone swap hole-filled shoes for a really decent pair of good-quality boots or shoes that may last them for years."
