Thirty new researchers in human health and wellbeing will be in post by October in a £5 million expansion of the Wolfson Research Institute at Durham University. The sum invested includes more than £2 million from the National Institute for Health Research for new posts as part of a joint project with Newcastle University, running an advisory service for National Health Service staff. Tim Blackman, the institute's director, said: "There are many issues in the North East, such as health-related worklessness, that are deep-seated and need a better understanding of how to tackle them effectively."
