关于 National University of Modern Languages (NUML)

The National University of Modern Languages is a public university in the city of Islamabad in Pakistan, with satellite campuses in Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Multan, Quetta, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Gwadar.

Established as an institute in 1969, it became a university in 2000 offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in oriental and occidental languages.

Initially, the institute provided language training facilities to personnel of armed forces and other government services of Pakistan.

Today there are four faculties: languages, engineering and computer sciences, management studies and social sciences.

The faculty of social sciences includes departments of education, international relations, peace and conflict studies, mass communication, Pakistan studies and Islamic studies.

The motto is "We teach how to think, not what to think" and its colours are blue, white and yellow.

The university has various scholarships available, such as the National University of Modern Languages Support Fund. There is also the HEC Need Based Scholarship Programme which gives special preference to students coming from remote and rural areas, aiming to help them complete their education and improve their socioeconomic condition.

The Chinese Embassy Scholarship aims to strengthen research on the relationship between China and Pakistan, to assist students from low-income families and to train young talent to promote the friendship between the two countries.

The Talented Young Scientists Visiting Programme allows students under the age of 45 to apply for up to $2,000 US dollars of funding for six to twelve months, selected by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.
