Okanagan College is a public, post-secondary institution located in Kelowna, British Columbia.
It was established in 1963 and now operates four main campuses in Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon and Salmon Arm, as well as a number of smaller access centres. Kelowna is its biggest campus.
Okanagan College offers a range of educational and training programmes and is the region’s largest higher education institution. It is also the second-largest trade school in British Columbia.
Courses include everything from bachelor’s degrees to diplomas, trade certificates, vocational training, professional development, corporate training and adult basic education. There are options to study across a wide selection of disciplines: arts and science, business, trades, health, technologies, adult basic education (upgrading), adult special education and continuing studies.
There is a large international community at Okanagan College, representing around 40 countries. The college is committed to supporting international students with a range of events and services, including a special orientation week to introduce international students to the college and an international education week where students can celebrate and educate others about their cultural heritage. The college also has one of the fastest growing populations of Aboriginal students at any college in the province and provides specialist support services for Aboriginal students at all of its campuses.
Okanagan’s notable alumni include activist Jeannette Armstrong, artist Maureen Gruben and CEO of Hootsuite, Ryan Holmes.
