UBT is a higher education institution in education, quality, innovation and technology in Kosovo.
The university’s main campus is located in Prishtina, the capital of Kosovo. Prishtina is situated in the northeastern part of the country near the Gollak Mountains. The majority of Prishtina’s population speak Albanian.
The university also has five other campuses spread across the Prishtina District. These include Lipjan, Prizren, Gjilan, Ferizaj, and Peja.
The university’s Innovation Campus is the largest of its kind in Kosovo with more than 40 state of the art laboratories. It is also home to the largest library in Kosovo and is the only Kosovar member of the World Innovation Parks Association.
The university is organised into nine academic institutes: entrepreneurship management and engineering, research innovation and entrepreneurship, development of education and academic affairs, foreign languages and intercultural skills, politics and international relations, life sciences and innovation, law and justice, and media and communication. Each institute offers a range of both undergraduate and graduate courses.
The university has set up 10 research centres to facilitate scientific research including the Information Systems and Cyber Security Research Centre, the Health Sciences Research Centre and the Centre for Global and European Studies.

B1 lit. b (postdoc) Limited until: permanent Reference no.: 4718 Founded in 1885, the Department of Geography and Regional Research is the oldest and largest geography department in Austria. It is home to about 150 scientists in 10 working groups and 3,400 students. Since its inception, it has not only grown dynamically but also continuously broadened its focus. Since the beginning, it has accommodated both human and physical geography. The department also has been recognized for its contributions to geoinformatics and cartography. This interdisciplinary basis in computational, social, and natural sciences provides a dynamic and inspiring environment for researchers to address the grand challenges of our time. The department manages four interlinked Master’s programs. To maximize the departments synergies in research and teaching, we are establishing a “Spatial Sustainability and Digital Transformations Hub”. This hub will be in the lead by a senior scientist position responsible for ensuring that the hub’s designated tasks are carried out. The senior scientist will have the opportunity to develop a work plan together with the department leadership and coordinate regularly with the department management to implement the vision of the hub over the next years. The position is initially limited to one year. It may be converted into unlimited employment upon mutual agreement. The hub is anchored within the department as a “shared services” facility, modeled after a Center for Spatial Studies. It thus serves as a central service unit whose services are equally accessible to researchers, lecturers, and students across all working groups of the department. The senior scientists will be supervised directly by the department leadership, i.e., the head and vice-head. Overall, the hub provides services in four areas: Strategy • Research • Teaching • Outreach Strategy The senior scientist is responsible for the continuous development of an interdisciplinary research strategy that integrates the department’s expertise in the social sciences, natural sciences, and data sciences into the key themes of spatial sustainability transformations and spatial digital transformations, with particular emphasis on the intersections of these two fields. Strategy development takes place in close coordination with the heads of the department’s working groups. Through regular strategy workshops, organized and moderated by the senior scientist, the expertise of all researchers at the department is mobilized for the further development and implementation of the strategy. Research The senior scientist coordinates cross-group research activities on the key themes of spatial sustainability transformations and spatial digital transformations as well as on the interface between the two areas within the department and beyond, while also contributing their own research to interdisciplinary projects in this forward-looking field. A particular emphasis lies in the coordination and management of large interdisciplinary research proposals led by the department (e.g., FWF doc.funds, SFB, Horizon Europe). Teaching Existing and newly developed interdisciplinary bachelor’s and especially master’s programs at the department (which are also to include other working groups within the faculty) on the key themes of spatial sustainability and digital transformations require more effective integration of teaching across the individual courses offered. Here, the senior scientist will play a coordinating role, thereby supporting the responsible program directors. Outreach The senior scientist proactively carries out professional outreach activities on the key themes of spatial sustainability and digital transformations, serving as a central point of contact both internally and externally. Following the example of other Centers for Spatial Studies, this also includes outreach activities on spatial thinking in an interdisciplinary context (across subject areas), for example in the form of workshops. For this purpose, the senior scientist develops and implements a science communication strategy in coordination with all working groups of the department. Your future tasks: The responsibilities for the senior scientist position include, among others: Continuous development of an interdisciplinary research agenda and strategy on the topics of spatial sustainability and digital transformations, in close coordination with the department’s working groups and department leadership. Coordination of cross-disciplinary spatial research activities at the institute and beyond. Coordination and management of large interdisciplinary research proposals led by the institute (e.g., FWF doc.funds, SFB, Horizon Europe). Conducting own research and/or contributing to interdisciplinary research projects at the intersection of spatial sustainability and digital transformations. Coordination of science communication activities in the mentioned fields of transformation. Improved integration of teaching across the different courses offered and especially the department’s new Master’s programs. About the role This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual experienced in the practice and communication of sound statistical principles to join our Faculty. The Faculty supports high quality epidemiological studies and complex clinical trials in nursing, midwifery, palliative care, rehabilitation, technologies, and health services research. You will contribute to new grant applications and advise on studies to completion and publication, including supervision of junior statisticians. You will also contribute to teaching, provide PhD and MSc supervision and contribute to improving statistical skills across the Faculty. You will be associated with the UKCRC-registered King’s Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), working to their quality management system. The King’s CTU has world-leading statistical and trial delivery expertise and provides randomisation services and other management system support. You will be involved in grant applications to a variety of funding streams such as those offered by the National Institute for Health and Care Research and the Medical Research Council (MRC), including pilot/feasibility to definitive trials and fellowships that typically involve trials or epidemiology using big data. Located on the Darlington Campus for the School of Civil Engineering Opportunity to help scale breakthrough hydrogen storage technology through advanced automation in clean energy manufacturing Base Salary $113,400 - 151,328 (Academic Level A/B) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity Hydrogen (H2) is widely recognised as a clean energy vector essential for decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors. Currently the large-scale deployment of hydrogen remains constrained by the limitations of storage technologies, which rely on either high-pressure compression or cryogenic liquefaction-both of which are energy-intensive, costly, and pose significant safety risks. Rux Energy (Rux) is addressing this challenge by commercialising a breakthrough hydrogen storage solution based on patented nanoporous materials. Rux are at an exciting point in scaling their manufacturing processes, and in order to achieve a cost-competitive product this process must be optimised. Automation plays a significant role in improving efficiency, cutting costs, and streamlining the manufacturing process at scale. This project will build on our current capabilities to utilise automation to collect, process, and analyse data in the manufacturing process. The project is a partnership between Rux Energy and USYD and is a multi-disciplinary effort between scientists and engineers. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work within the project to bring innovation to different aspects of the project. We offer immersive support from prestigious academic supervisors and industry leaders. If you are passionate about research, but want to see your ideas become reality, this is the project for you. Your key responsibilities will be to: Phase 1: Manufacturing data integration The first phase of this project will involve identifying, sourcing, and installing various sensing equipment in Rux's in micropilot plant. The data from these sensors will be integrated into an existing platform composed of open-source, commercial and in-house developed software. Finally, QC points and a live process tracking system will be developed by extending the existing platform through adoption or development of new components. Phase 2: Using big data insights to optimise the manufacturing process The second phase of this project will focus on processing and utilising machine-learning techniques to analyse large volumes of data from sensors installed in Phase 1. The aim will be to merge the QC points and tracking system developed in Phase 1 with AI to develop predictive maintenance capabilities and extract insights about the manufacturing process, such as: Identify any key parameters in the mfg process that impact material performance Optimise power/energy usage throughout the process The outcome will be to optimise the manufacturing process on the micro-pilot scale to improve efficiency and product quality. The Senior Programme Officer works as part of a team across Strand Group and School for Government (SfG) to ensure consistent support and delivery of online, blended and residential teaching provision providing high quality administrative support. About the role The Senior Programme Officer works as part of a team to ensure consistent support and delivery of the Strand Group and SfG’ s residential, online and blended taught provision, providing high quality logistical administrative support. The postholder will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer experience to relevant stakeholders throughout the student life cycle. The post holder will be resolving complex day-to-day issues, responding in line with university Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). They will represent the Policy Institute externally with students and clients, and internally through wider university activities and committees, supporting the School’s interests and engaging with university functions. The postholder will lead on the onboarding of new students, working closely with central teams to ensure a smooth and engaging start to their studies, coordinate assessments and results processing, maintain accurate student data, and will organise and manage events such as inductions and webinars. The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, strong digital literacy, and the ability to manage competing priorities. This role will present exciting opportunities to work with a small and collaborative team and together support a growing portfolio of online, blended and residential education offerings. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Broad vocational experience, acquired through a combination of job-related vocational training and considerable on-the-job experience, demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work/roles. Clear and accurate communication style both written and verbal Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Forms and databases, Zoom/Teams and virtual learning management systems such as Moodle Experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS) to provide management information data to a high level of detail and accuracy Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work. Ability to plan own workload, work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects, reprioritising or adapting as necessary Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Desirable criteria Experience of managing and delivering a portfolio of taught provision, with a proactive and transparent approach and a focus on improvement Experience working on custom closed education projects with a long-term client or partner organisation.
