So which was the April fool last week? Oxford proposing to carve up the Bodleian? Or the sociology professor who thinks six pages enough to summarise Plato's Republic (Letters, April 1)?

Or the immigration minister who thinks £250 or £500 for a visa extension won't be "a significant consideration for students" ("Hike in visa cost will not deter foreign students", April 1)?
