We were surprised to read "Architects urged to 'go green' and 'get sensitive' with spaces" ( THES , May 16).
The Royal Institute of British Architects took the lead three years ago in introducing sustainability into the core curriculum of RIBA-recognised courses in schools of architecture.
This commitment to educating students in designing ecologically responsible buildings is reiterated in the recently published Tomorrow's Architect , and many of the RIBA's cultural activities, including lectures and exhibitions, focus on the importance of sustainability. Indeed there is an RIBA award specifically given every year to the best example of sustainable architecture.
