Universities condone or even encourage students to binge drink, and it is time they put their students' unions and halls of residence in order.
After a month at university, my non-drinking son despairs of having a social life that does not revolve around drinking and vomiting. Fellow students have told him they did not drink before university, but the constant pressure and cheap offers they receive appear to have done the trick.
While the Government worries about drinking in towns, perhaps it (and all vice-chancellors) should take a look at their institutes of learning.
