I'm delighted that the widening participation review concluded that universities should scrap entry requirements. I argued a couple of years ago that selection was discriminatory, that there should be a basic threshold and that students should then be able to choose any course at any university. Places on oversubscribed courses would be determined by lots. This would reveal whether elite universities could actually teach.
