The ideology of a dress code is fine, as long as the realities of such a code are considered during implementation. Any code must fit with the image of the organisation and also reflect the role represented. To say that staff are not allowed to wear jeans might be appropriate if you were a business or computing lecturer but would be inappropriate if you were a construction lecturer. These realities must be considered if a "professional image" is to be achieved.
