Presumably the poaching of entire research teams ahead of the research assessment exercise is confined to science departments. Humanities departments are still rejecting applicants who have published work in collaboration with professors at universities in other countries, applicants who have had more than three books favourably reviewed in the national press and applicants who have written up hitherto unknown texts by major writers they have discovered in public archives, thereby demonstrating an ability to show colleagues how to do the same.
