Phil Baty's feature "Did the Oxford blues turn red?" ( THES , May 9) refers to Jenifer Hart's "brief career" as a Soviet mole in the 1930s.
It does not mention her subsequent career as a fellow of St Anne's College, Oxford. I have no idea how little or how much Hart did as a spy, but she was an outstanding tutor held in great affection. Her scholarship and sharp powers of analysis were inspirational.
