Space for reflection is an important issue in a noise-fixated society (“If silence is golden, we should invest in it during seminars”, Opinion, 8 August). However, I’m not sure that I concur with Robert Zaretsky’s argument: surely silence in the seminar room simply allows space for students to heckle?
