Letter: Citation revelation

March 29, 2002

Mark Griffiths (Letters, THES , March 22) finds fault with our citation count (Letters, THES , March 1). He is wrong in the detail but we did have trouble with initials. All the more extraordinary that we found a 91 per cent correlation between departments' average citation rates and their RAE grades. One can only speculate on the correlation with all problems ironed out - 95 per cent perhaps?
