I have long been aware that some of my articles and book reviews are for sale on amazon.com ("Research for Sale: $5.95", November 17). My belief in the free flow of knowledge and the pleasure at seeing my work get wider circulation meant it never crossed my mind that commercial interests were profiting from the sweat of my brow. Perhaps such naivety explains how I came to be an academic?
