The current brouhaha surrounding Lord Ashcroft and his non-domicile status should not be allowed to obscure the fact that he has made a valuable contribution to the field of education.
The considerable funds he has donated to Anglia Ruskin University continue to enhance the educational opportunities of thousands of students - something certain politicians and their friends in the media are either ignorant of or have deliberately chosen to ignore.
