Frank Burnet's attempt to pour the enormous condescension of posterity on to sheep won't do ("Wonders of woolly thinking", 18 December). Most sheep may not be intellectual geniuses, but they do have the capacity to fight back and act collectively, which makes them a notch up from new Labour.
I have come across militant sheep who stamp and snort in Malton, Yorkshire, and lambs who organise themselves in rampaging gangs quite outside the control of their parents near Abergavenny. They deserve our respect.
