Interesting to see that The Times Higher's world rankings of universities has arrived at a standing that most would recognise: that, by the most relevant of criteria (National academies of science and engineering research exercises, national society memberships and other honours), there is still an obvious, dare one say self-selecting, elite group of institutions here and in the US.
