Excoriation of the dismal state of British universities is all very well, Michael Burleigh, but you must make it clear who or what you are excoriating. The drinking culture of British students? The "anarchistic rabble" of academics? Vice-chancellors? Research and teaching assessment procedures? Lack of a rigorous appointments system? The moneyed groves of Stanford appear to have blunted your focus and your political acuity.
