Shares but no sharing

So the bell has tolled on "the leather-jacketed pseudo-proletarian lecturer" ("Up the (fiercely staid) workers!", May 19).

What deluded romantics they were, not a smart suit or a share portfolio between them. All that naive talk about social democracy and equality. They could not see a pragmatic opportunity for self-promotion and material advancement if it stared them in the face. And what a lonely planet this has become.
