So The Australian newspaper reports that two in five academics under 30 wish to leave their jobs, and that for those "between the ages of 30 and 40 the figure is even higher, as much as one in three" (International news in brief, 29 September). Apart from poor pay and working conditions, could innumeracy among reporters be a factor here, too?
