Time-and-motion study

With 30 hours of preparation ("A matter of opinions", 11 December) for each of the 550 hours of teaching a lecturer at a post-1992 university is contracted to do, Tara Brabazon must be multitasking if she has time to "dance wildly" and "laugh loudly", let alone write books. There are only enough hours in a year to prepare for 292 hours of teaching.
