Foundation degrees are filling a gap in the market. But as the gap is so small, is the deciding factor for potential students not curriculum content but the amount of work experience they require?
Higher national diplomas - no work experience; foundation degrees - work placement module; national vocational qualifications - workplace training. All offer vocational training, all provide access to degree qualifications. So are we conning potential students or just ourselves?
