Please note that the recent industrial action has led to a number of minor modifications to this year's graduation ceremonies.
Revised Order of Presentation Graduands should process to the stage in the following order of eminence:
1. Class one graduands : students who took all examinations and assessment and were fully marked.
Academic dress : full Poppleton regalia. Deep purple gown. Heliotrope blue hood. Black-cloth mortarboard with 3in tassel.
2. Class two graduands : students who took all examinations and assessment but have not been fully marked.
Academic dress : modified regalia. Deep purple gown. Heliotrope blue hood. Black-cloth mortarboard with no tassel.
3. Class three graduands : students who sat only some examinations and assessment and have been only partially marked.
Academic dress : modified regalia. Deep purple gown. Heliotrope blue hood. No mortarboard (or tassel).
4. Class four awards : students who have taken no examinations or assessment.
Academic dress : civilian clothes.
Further Notes
a. Auditorium applause should be confined to class one graduands (and the university choir's rendition of Jerusalem ).
b. Students who receive awards to which they are subsequently found to be not entitled are requested to return certificate in its original tube by August 1.
c. Students in classes three and four should not pose for photographs in their provisional gowns.
d. Please note that the vice-chancellor's remarks about this being a proud day and about how the graduates are standing on the threshold of glittering careers and that all our good wishes go with them applies only to class one awards.
