The Leadership Trust

Roger Gill, former director of executive development programmes at the University of Strathclyde, has been appointed head of the new research centre for leadership studies.

Staffordshire University

Jeanette Cargill, former director of human resources at United Cinemas International, has been appointed director of the university's human resources department; Julia Baum, formerly with British Rail, is training and development manager.

British Association of Surgical Oncology

John Monson, professor in the academic surgical unit at the University of Hull, has been appointed vice president.

University of Northumbria

Miles Irving, professor of surgery at the University of Manchester and director of the NHS Health Technology Programme, has been appointed to the board of governors.

The Open Learning Foundation

The following have been elected as members of the foundation's board: Kirk Ramsay, director of the international office at the University of Paisley and Mike Thorne, pro vice chancellor at the University of Sunderland.

University of St Andrews

Barry Ferguson, former senior vice president of the students' representative council and student enterprise officer at Glasgow University and alumni relations officer at Abertay Dundee, has been appointed alumnus relations officer.
