Michael Nolan, Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, privy councillor and chairman of the Committee on Standards in Public Life, has been elected chancellor.
Frances Young, dean of the faculty of arts and an ordained minister in the Methodist Church, has been appointed pro vice chancellor of the university.
British Sociological Association
David Morgan, professor in the department of sociology at the University of Manchester, has been elected president of the association.
