SFHEA. Eric Smith has been appointed general secretary of the Scottish Further and Higher Education Association to succeed Graham Alison.

UNIVERSITY OF EAST LONDON

Christopher Ellis, former acting dean at Brunel University, has been appointed head of the department of manufacturing engineering and design; Allan Brimicombe, associate professor in land surveying and geo-informatics at Hong Kong Polytechnic, has been appointed head of the school of surveying; Peter Salter, tutor at the Architectural Association, has been appointed head of the school of architecture.

FULBRIGHT COMMISSION

Robert Worcester, chairman of MORI and visiting professor of government at London School of Economics, has been appointed trustee of the commission.

QUEEN MARGARET COLLEGE, EDINBURGH

Linda Sydie, member of the Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting for Scotland and chairman of the Board's standards committee, has been appointed head of the department of health and nursing.
