LINK BOARD. Victor Parsons minister for science and technology at the Department of Trade and Industry, announced that David Smith, director of research and development at Whatman plc, has been appointed chairman of the LINK Board.

UNIVERSITY OF PLYMOUTH. Alan Macfarlane, former managing director of the British Division of Wandel and Goltermann, has been elected chairman of the board of governors.

UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE. Roger Needham, head of the university's computer laboratory and professor of computer systems, has been appointed pro-vice chancellor.

UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE. Peter Copeland, assistant director of operation, director of estates and buildings.
