Appointments

SHEFC: John (Jack) Shaw has been reappointed chairman of the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council for a further three years from June 1.

SCONUL

The Executive Board of the Standing Conference of National and University Libraries has appointed Toby Bainton, who has previously worked in the libraries of the University of Cambridge and King's College London and is vice chair of the Library Association's Rare Books Group, as secretary, succeeding Gillian Pentelow, who is retiring.

Ray Cowell, vice chancellor of Nottingham Trent University, has been appointed chairman of the East Midlands Arts Board.
