MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY. Barry Jackson, head of the school of visual communication design, has been appointed dean of the faculty of art, design and performing arts from August 1, succeeding John Lansdown.

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION COMMISSION. Judith Elkin, head of the school of information studies at the University of Central England in Birmingham, has been appointed a member of the commission.

COLLEGE OF ST MARK AND ST JOHN, PLYMOUTH. John Rea will take over the post of principal from September 1 this year, replacing John Anderson.

HEALTH CARE RISK REPORT. John Tingle, director of the centre for health law at Nottingham Trent University has been appointed editor of the United Kingdom's first specialist journal focussing on medical law, negligence and risk management.
