CVCP. Gareth Roberts, incoming chairman of the Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals and vice chancellor of Sheffield University, has named the final five members to complete the organisation's council.
Howard Newby, Southampton University vice chancellor, is vice chairman. The four other members are: Baroness Blackstone (Birkbeck College, London), Mike Fitzgerald (Thames Valley), Tom Husband (Salford) and Keith Robbins (Lampeter).
From August 1, they will join the six successful candidates in recent elections to the council: Clive Booth (Oxford Brookes), Kenneth Edwards (Leicester), Maxwell Irvine (Aberdeen), Peter Knight (Central England), Peter North (Oxford) and Alan Wilson (Leeds).
The 21-member council has two other vice chairmen, Martin Harris (Manchester) and David Melville (Middlesex), and a treasurer, John Bull (Plymouth).
The six other members are: Colin Campbell (Nottingham), John Stoddart (Sheffield Hallam), Stewart Sutherland (Edinburgh), Michael Thompson (Birmingham), Leslie Wagner (Leeds Metropolitan) and Graham Zellick (Queen Mary and Westfield College, London).
SHEFC
Ian Lang, Secretary of State for Scotland, announced the following appointments to the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council for three years from June 1, 1995: Jim Adamson, vice president of AT&T Global Information Solutions (Scotland) Ltd; Sheena Cooper, rector of Aboyne Academy; Vicki Bruce, professor of Psychology at Stirling University.
In addition, the following have been re-appointed for two years: John Darby, assistant principal, Napier University James Wright, vice chancellor, University of Newcastle upon Tyne And for one year:
Robert Jack, former senior partner McGrigor Donald; Janet Sprent, professor of plant biology, University of Dundee.
