New players are entering the multimedia authoring software market with products they claim are cheaper, easier or simply cooler than the market leaders. Pitango, an offshoot of Israeli prepress specialists Scitex, has its Clickworks product on beta test at higher education sites including Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Bath College of Higher Education, and Manchester Metropolitan University. Pitango (smp.marketing@mail.stil.scitex.com) is looking for more beta testers, with the added incentive of a contest for multimedia developers. The prizes are trips to Israel and a Macintosh computer.
