Keith Anderson, past president and fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology, has been appointed honorary visiting professor.

Nene College of Higher Education

Charlie Brooker, senior research fellow in the department of nursing at the University of Manchester, has been appointed visiting professor in the faculty of applied sciences.

Napier University

Patricia Peattie, head of learning resources and former principal of Lothian College of Health Studies, has been awarded a professorship. Jonathan Winterton, former senior lecturer in industrial relations at Bradford University, has been appointed professor of employment and human resource development.

University of Stirling

Chairs have been awarded in the following departments: S. Scott, applied social science; V. Beattie, accountancy and finance; J. Drakakis, English studies; W. Phillips, psychology; K. Power, psychology. Grant Jarvie, founding member of the Warwick Centre for the Study of Sport and chairman of the department of physical education, former chair at Heriot-Watt University has been appointed to the first chair in sports studies.
