From September 1: Simon Lee, rector of the Liverpool Institute of Higher Education, to the chair of law; Susan Greenfield, fellow of Lincoln College, Oxford, to the chair of physics.

UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW

Drummond Bone, dean of the faculty of arts, has been awarded a personal chair from October 1, on that date he will also take on the role of vice principal succeeding James Armour.

Margaret Maden, former chief education officer of Warwickshire, has been appointed to the chair in education.
